Malamata - a term that includes the precious metals and gold ornaments and is also used metaphorically to describe the excellence of the heart and soul.
With the original concept behind the creating of the brand "The Artians By Konstantina" in mind, Konstantina continues her art dialogue between the past and present of the unique Greek heritage and Greek arts.
t is this that gives the brand its distinct and unique identity. Since the print can be as definitive as a cut or the original design, Konstantina entered and studied the world of Hellenic jewellery history from 1700 - 1900 and placed her trust in the forms and shapes embodying Greek jewellery art of this period. Intriguing is the cultural mix created between the European West and the Islamic East.
Jewellery decorated the head, the neck, the chest reaching the waist.Chain jewellery was worn on the back and on the legs and feet. Complex and impressive Greek jewellery was considered as a sign of wealth and social class especially aimed at a successful marriage of the women wearing it and considered as an economic investment for social success and power. Gold, pearls and extremely high craftsmanship and intricate designs dominated on the Greek islands, whereas, in coast Greece, metals such as silver, bronze and other gold plated metals were used. The jewellery designed there was larger and of a more crude design. All was part of the existing culture in these areas. Thus Konstantina created a symbiosis between the world of digital technology and traditional craftsmanship producing her new Artians feminine, innovative, bold and artistic prints for her new MALAMATA SS25 collection.
Minimalistic yet impressively designed garments, including the well known kaftan styles and shirt dresses typical of The Artians, shirts with great attention to the detail, full print luxurious outfits and cocktail garments are only a few pieces of the Malamata collection for you to discover. As always, in conformance with ethical fashion codes and produced in our small unit in Patras, Greece, where our outstanding and experienced local artists use old sewing techniques thus uplifting and defining each final garment as one of its kind.
